Wordsworth is known as a lover of nature. He loves the objects of nature with a sense of devotion. He hates the city life and likes to live in the company of green trees, Shining stars and hills. Among human beings, he loves common people. During a tour of Scotland, he comes across a highland girl. She is reaping in a field and singing a song. Her song is melodious and sweet. The valley is peaceful and calm. Her song disturbs the silence of the valley. The poet is greatly impressed by her song. The song is soothing in its effects. The poet does not understand the song but he still enjoys it.

The girl’s song reminds him of the song of the nightingale. The song brings the reader into the musical and romantic world of birds. The writer too shares the joy of girl’s song.
