 Dr. Rappaccini had a craze for growing poisonous plants, bushes and herbs. He selected his sole daughter, Beatrice to observe the effects of the plants on human beings. He grew a very poisonous plant in the center of the garden. It was the chief treasure of Dr. Rappaccini. It was the heart of the garden. He called it sister plant of the Beatrice. Because both the plant and Beatrice were born at the same day. The plant was so poisonous that even one drop of it could kill any living beings. Beatrice has in healed so much poison from it. As result she had also become poisonous.

Dr. Rappaccini was cruel person. He was ready even to sacrifice his own daughter for the sake of his experiment. He was suffering from the craze for making his daughter poisonous like his poisonous plant. When Beatrice drank a draught of antidote, it proved death for her.

So we see that nature does not forgive any such fellow who whishes to change its course. Nature does not like the idea of Dr. Rappaccini. So it takes revenge and Beatrice dies Dr. Rappaccini remains remorseful for the whole life. It is exactly to that given story is a science fiction or fantasy. So we see that Dr. Rappaccini cares more for science than human beings.

Beatrice is a attractive, beautiful and lovely lady. The young man of Padua knows a lot about her. Beatrice is more beautiful in her soul than in her body. She loves the Giovanni from the depth of her soul.

The antidote works negatively in her body. As poison has become her life. Then Dr. Rappaccini reveals his plan of making both of them poisonous. So that they become fearful for all the people and dear to each other. But Beatrice replies to her father before dying “I would rather have been loved not feared”.

It tells us about the limits to which a pure scientist may go.
